Good Faith Estimate

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

For individuals not utilizing insurance, the ability to request a Good Faith Estimate for medical services, including psychotherapy, is a fundamental right. This estimate provides you with an understanding of the costs linked to your mental health care. It helps you make informed decisions while promoting transparency in billing. To receive a Good Faith Estimate, please reach out in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule.

Disputing a Bill

In the event that you receive a bill surpassing your Good Faith Estimate by a minimum of $400, you have a right to dispute it. All clients are encouraged to retain a copy of their Good Faith Estimate for reference if such a need arises.
